Akuma-jou Dracula, meaning "Demon Castle Dracula" in Japanese, is a landmark game in the Castlevania series. Released in arcades in Japan, it's known for its challenging gameplay and dark atmosphere.  The arcade versions, like the ones differentiated by 'N' and 'P' designations, sometimes featured slight variations in ROMs, impacting elements like graphics or difficulty. The original game, predating the success on home consoles, established iconic elements of the series like its gothic horror setting and whip-wielding protagonist. Konami, the developer and publisher, successfully brought the gothic horror to a wide audience with this arcade debut.
