This combined edition for the Game Boy gave players the chance to experience both the first and second Mortal Kombat titles in a single package. Released in 1995 outside of Japan, it brought the franchise's signature blend of intense fighting and over-the-top fatalities to the portable console.  The gameplay naturally adhered to the constraints of the Game Boy hardware, but it endeavored to maintain the essence of both of the titles it encompassed. The game’s value proposition was to provide a double dose of classic Mortal Kombat on the go.
