Similar to its Japanese counterpart, the Card e-Reader (U) is a peripheral for the US Game Boy Advance market. It acted as an accessory for unlocking content in compatible games.  The device did not include games intrinsically; rather it functioned as an add-on to existing titles, broadening the gameplay experience. Nintendo was the primary developer and distributor for this accessory.
