Mortal Kombat Trilogy, a compilation title for the N64, brought together characters and stages from across several previous Mortal Kombat games. It wasn't a new game per se, but rather a collection of content. Its gameplay remained the same as the other iterations, maintaining its trademark two-dimensional fighting. Midway Games' compilation preserved many fan-favorite elements for Nintendo 64 owners who may have missed earlier installments.  The emphasis on delivering a complete MK experience within one package made it appealing for many players.
