Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden is a fighting game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in Japan. Developed and published by Bandai, it was the first in a series of Dragon Ball Z fighting games for the console. The game features a roster of popular characters from the Dragon Ball Z anime, and allows players to engage in fast-paced one-on-one combat using a variety of special moves and techniques. The gameplay is relatively simple to pick up but offers a surprising depth of strategy, particularly in terms of character selection and special move management. Super Butouden was notable for its sprite-based graphics which, although showing their age today, were considered impressive at the time of its release and successfully captured the look and feel of the anime. Success of the title led to several sequels, cementing it as a beloved entry in the DBZ fighting game legacy.
