Star Fox 2, initially planned for release on the SNES, is a highly anticipated sequel to the original Star Fox. It expands on the gameplay mechanics of the first game, adding a deeper strategic layer and multiple playable characters. Its story expands upon the plot of the original, adding new planets, characters and storylines. It remained unreleased for many years after its completion, only to receive an official release years later. Despite being a game from the 1990s, its gameplay mechanics and approach were ahead of its time.
