Wolfenstein 3D (USA)
Wolfenstein 3D, originally released in 1992, is a first-person shooter that helped define the genre. Known for its groundbreaking 3D graphics (for its time), fast-paced action, and Nazi-themed setting, it was a massive success on PC. This SNES version, while not matching the PC original in terms of fidelity, offered a taste of that experience to console gamers, making it a unique entry in the Wolfenstein franchise. Despite technical limitations, it retained the core gameplay of navigating maze-like levels, shooting enemies and completing objectives. Id Software, the creators of the original, were not directly involved in the SNES port. The development and publishing was handled by other parties, leading to compromises in visuals and features compared to the PC version.
